Sodalite, Tugtupite

This six inch specimen is from the Taseq Slope, Greenland. Under short wave ultra violet, the pink fluorescent mineral is tugtupite, the dull red to bright orange mineral is sodalite. Under long wave the tugtupite glows a dull red, while the sodalite glows a bright yellow-orange. The matrix is lujarvrite. The sodalite is quite tenebrescent. After exposure to ultraviolet light, it turns a dark purple when viewed in natural light. After a time the purple color fades.
