Sodalite, Ussingite, Lujavrite
This is a nine inch specimen from Ilimaussaq Complex, Greenland. The sodalite glows a bright reddish orange. Ussingite glows a dull aqua-green. The bright green glow is an unkown uranium ion activated mineral.
The dark non-fluorescent lujavrite provides a nice contrast. I like the peace sign.
Underlong wave ultraviolet light, the sodalite glows a bright, pumpkin orange. The other minerals don’t fluoresce at this longer wavelength.
The sodalite in this specimen is quite tenebrescent. When exposed to ultraviolet radiation, the sodalite will change to a purple daylight color. It remains that color for a few days, then fade to a dull white
